S-ADENOSYL-L-METHIONINE is a methyl donor and a cofactor of enzyme-catalyzed methylation reaction. It is mainly involved in the auxiliary process of methylation reaction such as catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) and DNA methyltransferase (DNMT). S-adenylmethionine is present in all cells and is mostly methylated in the liver and also regulates responses to liver function, growth and injury.
